- The European Parliament adopted by 671 votes to 15, with 10 abstentions, a resolution on a strategic approach to pharmaceuticals in the environment.The resolution was tabled by the Committee on the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety.Members pointed out that pharmaceuticals harm ecosystems when released into the environment and reduce the future effectiveness of medicines, in particular by causing antibiotic resistance.
