From the Parliament's press release
- MEPs want to amend the EU Electoral Act to align voting rules with real-life health and caregiving challenges.
- The targeted change to the electoral rules would confer proxy voting rights to MEPs three months before their estimated due date and six months after childbirth.
- Parliament is seeking to improve gender equality and ensure mothers can participate fully in political life.
